Observations from social media from the Milestone location
In the region around Gaziantep, Turkey, pistachios are the primary produce. The city takes its name in inspiration of the nut and its historic economic importance in the region. One person posted photos from a baklava house, and others posted photos of Sanko Park, the popular enclosed mall in the city. Between history and modernity, we see tweets calling for agriculture reform and condolences for dead construction workers and their families. “Being a farmer is a tough job,” wrote one person, alongside photos of pistachio plants.
